How might we use complex text when students aren’t proficient at grade level? Participants will identify struggling readers and the reading demands placed on them from complex text. Experiencing strategies and scaffolds for both content and process, participants will reflect on student needs in attaining comprehension and rigor using complex text. Strategies to impact comprehension and to increase the depth of knowledge will provide teachers with WHAT, WHY, and HOW to have success with struggling readers using complex text.
