Perhaps one positive outcome of the corona crisis will be stronger home-school connections and a deeper awareness of how educators and families can work in partnership to keep children learning and developing. In this workshop, participants will learn about the research supporting family engagement and its effect on student learning as well as the difference between low and high impact strategies. Communication styles that are barriers to engaging families as well as techniques that build family efficacy will be explored and practiced. The Family Engagement Standards for Kansas from Birth to Grade 12 will be provided as a framework for participants to support the development of school family engagement plans or goals. Access to family engagement resources will be provided
